De-Sense-atized

Desensitized,

So incentivized,

It’s all privatized,

Lies revitalized,

To meet an end.

They tell us:

Don’t trust your eyes,

Don’t see them die,

They are enemies,

Their deaths are digitized.

They say forget:

That they are children,

Starving beneath bomb lights.

That they are mothers bereaved,

having lost everyone to the fires at night.

They tell us to unremeber:

The face of humanity,

The face of empathy.

The gut feeling that unsettles,

When evil action revels.

They call us allies:

As the death count of civilians mount,

As within their lies they glee and tout.

As our tax dollars fuel a storm of death,

And all the while they rob us our wealth.

De-Sense-A-Tized,

To what we know inside,

To be an insensible tyrant,

Full of hate and pride.
